MENA Director Documentary

A documentary portrait of the youngest feature film director in the MENA region, made ahead of a theatrical and Netflix release. Raashid Ambel worked on the production through Kaleido Pictures’ Creative Services division, across camera, lighting and set crew.

This is client work rather than a personal directing or writing credit — it’s included here as one of the productions he’s crewed on, on the camera and lighting side.

On camera, the brief was to stay out of the way. Long lenses, patient framing, and letting a moment finish before reaching for the next setup.

Lighting was built to be invisible — bounced, motivated, rigged so the subject never had to think about it. The best compliment a documentary gaffer gets is that nobody noticed.
