Vestige

Vestige is a short film on which Raashid Ambel worked across three departments — camera, sound and stills — a combination that is unusual on a set and only possible on a production small enough to demand it.

Second AC is the department's memory: slates, logs, media, and a camera that is always ready before it is asked for. On a small crew that role expands quickly, and here it did.

I recorded production sound on the same shoot, which changes how you hear a location — you stop seeing rooms and start hearing them. It made me a better cinematographer.

The behind-the-scenes photography was shot between setups. Those frames are the honest record of how the film was actually made.
